Maybe a green laser pointer gutted out to wire the momentary contact switch to a trigger. Then some kind of sound effect.

Hi Iain,
Cheers for the feedback. The Prototype Laser Pistol got put to one side while I worked on a collection of pirate costume pieces for a party.
The finishing touches will be put in the laser gun once I dig my workbench out from under the pile of cutlasses and flintlock pistol. :)
I highly recommend grabbing some junk and having a go - that's how the prop guys on Star Wars started out. You'll be surprised how many every day objects fit together really well. Good luck!

Dude that is awesome! I can definitely relate as I'm part of the 80's sci fi gen and a great big Star Wars freak :) The rifle you put together is really impressive as well. Makes me think of the 'Behind the Scenes' edition of Star Wars where you see props and wardrobes from the movies being put together. Kinda makes me want to rummage around in the garage for old light sockets and torches :) When are you putting up the finished photos? Nice work.
